Japanese Papermaking is suitable for age 5+

Students will learn Japanese Papermaking that uses a removable screen and frame called Sugeta to form a sheet of Japanese paper.  A formation aid called Nari is used to control the speed of water drainage from the mould (Sugeta).

Japanese Papermaking can be taught in many different ways but the full version will require at least 3 to 4 days attendance. The 1 hour version to learn forming plain paper & making decorative paper remains popular because of the time frame. It can be done as a walk-in workshop format too. However, the 1 hour course does not include the fibre preparation part.
